Indications for Surgical Diathermy

The accuracy of control of the desiccating current makes it extremely valuable in the treatment of small lesions where cosmetic results are not only desirable, but essential. The spark for this work should be very fine, clean, and not feathered.
The action of desiccation is so superficial that lesions in the subcutis or at greater depth are not suitable to its action. For these deeper lesions and for thick elevated growths the coagulating current is employed. The cutting current is used alone or in conjunction with the coagulating current for the removal of malignant neoplasms.
